212 patients with virus in intensive care units, 92 on ventilators, province says
Ontario reported 1,362 COVID-19 hospitalizations on Sunday with 212 people with the virus in intensive care units.
Of the patients needing critical care, a total of 92 are breathing with the help of ventilators.
The province has previously said not all hospitals report their data on weekends.
The number of hospitalizations reported on Sunday is a decrease of 322 from the number of hospitalizations reported on Saturday, when a total of 1,684 people were said to be in hospital with COVID-19. The number of patients in ICUs is unchanged from Saturday.
Three new deaths were reported on Sunday, bringing the province’s total COVID-19 death toll to 12,734.
The province reported 4,098 new COVID-19 cases through limited PCR testing on Sunday. The province has said the count may be higher because of cases that were not reported in the last few days due to service degradation in its case and contact management system.
The seven-day average of new cases was 3,162 on Sunday.
A total of 16,139 tests were completed in the previous day. The province said the test positivity rate was 15.5 per cent on Sunday.
Public health units administered 20,928 doses of COVID-19 vaccines on Saturday. The province said 91 per cent of Ontarians aged 12 and older are fully vaccinated, meaning they have had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.
